Shocker took out Olimpico with a tope and Dragoncito beat Warrior for the win.
2) Estrellita DCOR Tiffany [lightning] *
Only the second lightning match draw this year, after Cometa/Signo went 10 minutes. This draw was probably not the planned finish. Estrellita went for a top rope tornillo plancha to the floor. The move itself was not so bad. The aim was off, and Tiffany didn't come close to catching Estrellita. Both women were counted out (Tiffany finding a way not to get back in for 20 seconds) and Estrellita was taken to the hospital.

Niebla & Zacarias were dressed like Hell Boy today. Tecnicos took 2/3, the last when the rudos were charged with excessive violence by Tirantes. Felino said this was what would happen on 12/16. Not exactly this, I'd hope. Felino also made it clear he wants a singles match with Panther, not Shocker and Negro getting involved.

That left two tecnicos, Shocker and Atlantis, to face off for the cup. Except Shocker didn't act much tecnico, sneaking in a heel kick to foul Atlantis for the win.

Same as the first match; a rudo (Nosferatu) was hurt in the first fall, and the tecnicos took 1/3, the last by DQ, Raziel fouling Metalico. These finish usually mean they just tried to wrap it up as quick as possible after the injury. Nosferatu hurt himself on a badly missed plancha.

I don't know how he did that and lived.

As usual, Dragon Lee was his brother's second. Terrible's old ally Averno was his second. Terrible took the first, Rush suffering a knee injury in the process. Rush still managed to take a short second fall. Rush won with the same piledriver move he used versus Yoshishashi.

Sombra Brillante Bombed Bucanero for the win. Sombra noted to the press that he's gotten a step further each year, and feels better prepared this year. Sombra isn't set on facing Lyger in the final, he just wants to win this. UG explained that he didn't teach Atlantis everything about being a rudo because he knew this day would come, and Dragon Rojo said the next goal was to get a mask match between Atlatnis and UG, though Delta & Maya would fall too if they got in the way.

Babe Richard was the referee. Big entrances for both men. Mascara had Brazo de Oro in his corner, Averno had both Ephesto and Mephisto walk with him to the ring, though Ephesto went to the back during the match. Other wrestlers were watching the match, Shocker most visibly. Mascara started the match with the Brazo de Oro/Mascara split mask he'd worn in some of the vignettes, but also started the match with a tope towards Averno. Averno was ready, and hit Mascara with a metal object, causing Mascara to bleed. Quick first fall for Averno via Devil's Wings, and Mascara snuck out the second fall with a small package. Long third fall, both guys surviving each other's and their own usual finishers, including Mascara kicking after a super Devil's Wings. Mascara finally got Averno with two Devil's Wings and then the campana for the win. Crowd was way behind Averno to start, but at least some of them came around to Mascara by the second fall - mostly a female supporters. Ephesto & Mephesto unmasked Averno, who is Renato Ruiz Cortez, 34 years old, 16 years a wrestler. Averno gave credit to Mascara for being the better man on this day and left without giving interviews to the press. He's got a mohawk, partially dyed white. Mascara celebrates with Brazo de Oro, Maximo and Super Brazo.

Event Notes: Referee Rafa el Maya was shown at the show, now out of the hospital. CMLL was back to having two referees in the ring for matches. Attendance guesses range from 80% to 'all the tickets were sold!'

3) El Alebrije, Histeria, Olímpico b Hijo del Fantasma, Sagrado, Valiente *
1/3 for the Invasors. Fantamsa took the swinging gate bomb in the third, and was pinned by everyone for the loss. Finally the Invasors have found the one guy they can beat!
4) Ángel de Oro b Pólvora [Forjando un Idolo, final] * 20110527cmll_match4Ángel de Oro vs Pólvora in a Forjando un Idolo final.avi (posted by luchablog vault (Google Drive)) Fall 1 (posted by MrAlexisCMLL) Fall 2 (posted by MrAlexisCMLL) Fall 3 (posted by MrAlexisCMLL)
Switched around to the fourth match, so it will air on Televisa. First two falls were quick, Polvora using the nudo lagunero and Angel de Oro using a tapatia variant. Long third fall, Angel de Oro getting the win with a UG style front superplex. Sounded like a really good match, Polvora's best ever.
5) Héctor Garza, Mr. Niebla, Último Guerrero b Blue Panther, Strong Man, Súper Porky * Part 1 (posted by WarriorsX2000) Part 2 (posted by WarriorsX2000) Part 3 (posted by WarriorsX2000)
Rudos take 1/3, capitalizing on some tecnico miscommunication. Niebla & Garza double suplexed Porky for the win.
6) Averno, Terrible, Texano b La Máscara, La Sombra, Máximo *
Straight falls for the rudos, Averno specifically. Averno shoved La Mascara off of him into Tirantes, and Tirantes called the DQ on La Mascara in the first. In the second, Tirantes slow counted Mascara on a casita, Mascara turned to punch him, and Averno fouled Mascara and inside cradled him for the quick three.

Guerrero Maya used a move that sure looks a lot like a martinete on Palacio Negro, but no DQ was called. Palacio was stretchered out after the match.
4) Mephisto, Shigeo Okumura, Yoshihashi b Delta, Hijo del Fantasma, Metal Blanco *
Mephisto and Fantasma are suddenly back to feuding, how about that. Not that it's going well for Fantasma: Mephisto ripped up the tecnico's mask in the second fall and pinned him in the third.

In the first, Bucanero pinned Super Porky, but Terrible and Texano beat up Monito and Tiger Hispano ruled it a DQ. (That goes counter to every other time they've beat up Monito.) TRT easily beat the tecnicos in the second fall. Tecnicos rallied in the third, Valiente diving on Bucanero and Metro on Texano, leaving Porky to roll up Terrible to win. 4) Misterioso Jr., Pólvora, Shigeo Okumura b Metro, Stuka Jr., Valiente *
Valiente and Stuka set Misterioso and Polvora on the top rope, which backfired into the rudos landing their big moves (with some help from Okumura.) As they got the pins, Okumura put Metro in a figure four leglock.

1) Höruz & Robin b Bronco & Cholo * Höruz & Robin vs Bronco & Cholo (posted by thecubsfan (DailyMotion))
Horuz had his new mask on. He had a good day. No one else did. Cholo was hurt early and may have turned ligaments in his left knee. Bronco wrestled the last two falls by himself. The third fall lasted under a minute, with them going right to the finish (Robin coming up way short on a top rope splash on Bronco, then grabbing his head.) It is too bad LATV is no longer showing openers.
2) Dr. X, Hooligan, Nitro b Metálico, Starman, Tigre Blanco * Metálico, Starman, Tigre Blanco vs Dr. X, Hooligan, Nitro (posted by thecubsfan (DailyMotion))
Tuareg took falls 2 and 3.

Dragon Lee did a SSP to the floor and Volador got Mascara about backcracker.
4) Máscara Dorada & Metal Blanco b Mephisto & Tiger Kid [Gran Alternativa, eightfinal]
Tiger Kid eliminated Puma in the battle royal. Karma paid him back with a loss here, even thought Tirantes was slow counting the rudos.
5) Negro Casas & Puma King b Guerrero Maya Jr. & Máximo [Gran Alternativa, eightfinal]
Double castias by the Casas for the win.
6) Averno & Palacio Negro b Black Warrior & Lestat [Gran Alternativa, eightfinal]
Rudos won. Black Warrior was very displeased and walked out on his partner after the match. Poor Lestat.
7) Máscara Dorada & Metal Blanco b Dragón Lee & Volador Jr. [Gran Alternativa, quarterfinal] *
Mascara Dorada dive plus Metal Blanco hurracrrana.
8) Averno & Palacio Negro b Negro Casas & Puma King [Gran Alternativa, quarterfinal] *
9) Máscara Dorada & Metal Blanco b Averno & Palacio Negro [Gran Alternativa, semifinal] *
Palacio Negro & Metal Blanco had hugged before the seeding battle royal, but found themselves on opposite sides in the final. Averno, killer of dreams, lost his mind and unmasking Dorada to cost his team the match and Palacio Negro a chance in the final. Averno challenged for a mask match with Dorada, and I hope he never gets it.
10) Rush, Strong Man, Súper Porky b Hirooki Goto, Mr. Águila, Olímpico
Straight falls for the tecnicos, Aguila and Olimpico taking the pin. Goto has got to find a better level of criminal to team with. Cancerbros have had a better year than the Invasors.

4) Pólvora, Shigeo Okumura, Yoshihashi b Ángel de Oro, Sagrado, Valiente * Part 1 (posted by LuchaLibreDeMexico) Part 2 (posted by LuchaLibreDeMexico) Part 3 (posted by LuchaLibreDeMexico)
Polvora cut Valiente down with a dropkick for the third fall. Valiente was stretchered out, and Polvora took the opportunity to challenge for Valiente's welterweight title. Valiente was too hurt to agree, but it's a possibility for sometime the future.
5) Blue Panther, La Máscara, La Sombra b Atlantis, Dragón Rojo Jr., Último Guerrero * Part 1 (posted by LuchaLibreDeMexico) Part 2 (posted by LuchaLibreDeMexico) Part 3 (posted by LuchaLibreDeMexico)
Mascara and Sombra pinned Guerrero and Dragon Rojo, then challenged for a tag title shot. UG offered a rematch next week, and then maybe they'll do it the week after. You'd think La Mascara wouldn't trust any open ended title match promises from Guerrero, seeing as he's still waiting for his heavyweight title shot.

Angel Blanco's family was honored after the match. Horuz unveiled a new mask, resembling his grandfather's mask. It appears he'll be sticking with the Horuz name.

Signo & Lee eliminated Mortiz, but then Signo fell next. That left Rush's brother versus both Tapatios and Inquisidor. Dragon Lee spectacularly eliminated Inquisidor with a SSP. Tapatios started using rudo tactics on the young tecnico, but Lee still beat Rayo I. It looked like he might get Rayo II as well, but Inquisidor got involved, and Rayo II stole Dragon Lee's mask to set up the winning cradle.

3) Arkángel de la Muerte, Demus 3:16, Hijo del Signo b Euforia, Raziel, Virus *
Demus took the first and the third, sneaking in a foul on Virus to take the match, just like the cibernetico that started this. Virus wanted a singles match, and Demus accepted, saying he wanted the chance to prove he had surpassed Virus.
4) Rush b Ephesto © [CMLL LH] *
New Champion! Dragon Lee seconded his brother, who won his first world championship. A big double stomp set up the final pin.
5) Averno, Mephisto, Último Guerrero b La Máscara, Súper Porky, Toscano *
La Mascara had Ultimo Guerrero in the campana, but Ultimo reversed it into his own and beat La Mascara with his own hold! Poor La Mascara.

Final four were Stuka/Fuego/Virus/Demus, but the rudos surprisingly beat both the tecnicos. While the ref was busy getting Stuka out, Demus fouled Virus and got the winning pin. CMLL taunts this as the student beating the teacher.

Mascara Dorada was the only one from the Japan tour to work, but he did wrestle. Garza took the second fall with using the ropes, and Panther got revenge with the same trick in the third.
